Our Wedding

Our Story

Like all great love stories, ours began in a forest full of lasers. It was 2017 and we were both at Electric Forest, a music festival in Rothbury, Michigan. Leah, born and raised in Michigan, was camping with a large group who accidentally commandeered part of a campsite occupied by Jack and his friends. When Leah returned from a stage, Jack playfully confronted the rogue campers which quickly turned into our two groups merging for a magical weekend of dancing in the trees. Despite our questionable hygiene and lack of sleep, we fell for each other. After the festival, we kept the spark alive long-distance with outdoor adventures, city hangs, and concert meetups until Leah moved to LA in 2018. Jack, originally from Texas, had already built an incredible community there that welcomed Leah with open arms. Soon, we were building a life together. Fast forward 8 years: We’ve grown a lot since the stars first aligned in that forest and so has our relationship. We’ve bonded over road trips in our beloved camper van, kitchen experiments, and philosophical musings. We’ve hiked through national parks with our dog Yogi, pedaled our bikes across the playa at Burning Man, and nurtured each other’s various creative pursuits along the way. Jack works in climate tech and Leah works in psychedelic research, so our dinner conversations can get pretty cosmic. Our curiosity about the world &amp; each other has been the foundation of how we continue to learn and grow together. On June 9, 2025, we proposed to each other at a cozy cabin outside Lake Arrowhead after a hike. When it came time to dream up our wedding, we knew it had to bring together the things we love most: community, music, and the great outdoors. A festival-inspired celebration under the redwoods felt like the most authentic way to honor our story and show the people we love a really groovy time. We can’t wait to celebrate with you! 💛

Wedding Party

The wedding will be held at The Brambles, nestled in an old growth redwood forest that previously served as a spiritual retreat and camp.

Friday's welcome party will be held at The Madrones, the sister hotel to The Brambles, located just 800 feet away with an in-house restaurant, cannabis apothecary, and two wine tasting rooms.

Where to Stay

Our venue is tucked in a small town, so lodging is limited. We recommend you book your lodging now to ensure the best options. We emailed all guests several nearby lodging options, including <a href="https://www.indiancreekinn.biz/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Indian Creek Inn</a> and a <a href="https://www.airbnb.com/wishlists/invite/f6651ae8-4ba1-4ecd-a223-74233b162891?s=67&amp;unique_share_id=9a3990d4-d274-44f7-bbfa-55483dd36b87" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">list of local airbnbs</a>. All wedding events are located in Philo, CA so we encourage guests to stay nearby as this makes transportation logistics much easier. There are also additional accommodations on the coast near Mendocino if needed (40 minute drive). We will have shuttles that run to designated hotels on the day of the wedding and there is ample parking on-site at both the Madrones and the Brambles.

About Philo

All of the weekend's events will be held in Philo, CA, a small town located within Mendocino County and the greater Anderson Valley wine country. The Pacific Coast and town of Mendocino are 40 minutes northwest and Sonoma County is an hour drive south.

We recommend flying into either STS (1 hour drive to Philo), OAK (2.5 hour drive), or SFO (3 hour drive).

Airports

We highly recommend renting a car in order to drive to your hotel, explore the redwoods &amp; coast plus all the beautiful vineyards &amp; towns on the way up. Buddy up with others &amp; make a roadtrip out of it! There's so much to see and do nearby in <a href="https://goop.com/city-guide/sonoma-valley-guide/?srsltid=AfmBOooXjuENaFjNtkAdI6ZVZG8_Rrmhj1IRLoHEaPLXgypff1ltTAaI" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Sonoma County</a>, <a href="https://www.bontraveler.com/guerneville-califorina/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Guerneville</a>, and <a href="https://www.bontraveler.com/healdsburg-california/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Healdsburg</a>.

Transportation

Hiking Among Redwoods: Redwoods are some of the tallest and oldest living things on earth and there’s nothing quite as magical as standing beneath them. You can wander redwood groves at <a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/zN4eycdpNS6K3sBW9" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Hendy Woods State Park</a> or <a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/Ct7GZ9uF3WV1yQ4L7" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Indian Creek Campground</a>, both a short drive from the venue, or cruise through <a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/Se8TZksG2GtmatKB8" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Navarro River Redwoods State Park</a> during golden hour. Wine Tasting: If you love good wine, you’re in the right place. Anderson Valley is famous for Pinot Noir and sparkling wines. <a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/6tnq3PQktJ9td71v9" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Handley Cellars</a> and <a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/T41tG9qDb28XSZ9H7" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Roederer Estate</a> are two cute vineyards in town. There are also two wine tasting rooms located within The Madrones hotel. Or if you’re driving up from San Francisco, you’ll pass through Sonoma County, which is one of California’s most famous wine regions with tons of vineyards to choose from. Coastal Views &amp; Ocean Breezes: <a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/mAbbGTA3FexwVc9H7" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Point Mendocino Trail</a> winds around the bluffs and is dotted with wildflowers and sweeping ocean views. It’s a short stroll from Mendocino’s quaint town square, so you can mix in some shops and cafes while you're there too. Kayaking &amp; Biking: Rent a kayak, canoe, stand up paddle board, or bicycle from <a href="https://catchacanoe.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Catch a Canoe</a>, located in Mendocino.

Local Activities

The Boonville Hotel and Restaurant: Delicious prix fixe dinners &amp; our favorite spot in town for a cocktail. Offspring @ the Farrer Building: Awesome brick oven pizzas &amp; small plates by the people behind The Boonville Hotel. Paysanne: Coffee shop &amp; bakery with bread, pastries &amp; ice cream next to Offspring. Leah gets the matcha, Jack gets a flat white. SŌBŌ: Chic sushi &amp; sake bar run by a husband wife duo. Get the flamed salmon &amp; miso soup. Come hungry, but dont come in a rush. Jumbo’s Win Win: Retro diner with big outdoor patio &amp; live music at night. The pickle beer &amp; smashburger are a must. Wickson: Intimate Mediterranean brunch &amp; dinner spot, located within The Madrones hotel.
